The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Masaryk University invites applications for fellowships for PhD studies, commencing during the academic year 2017/2018 at the date depending on mutual agreement.
The candidates must hold a Master degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent. They should submit a letter of application accompanied by a CV including their study history and a motivation letter to Martin Kolář (

6th mathematical hike - March 11th 2017 |

Dear Friends of Mathematics,
You are cordially invited to the 6th mathematical hike. It will take place on March 11th. Start at 09:55 at the bus stop "Jedovnice, náměstí". You can join us going by bus 201 (departure at 09:15), the bus stop is "Stará osada".
We have planned a spring hike, leaving Jedovnice first go to Křtiny (8 km, possible return by bus), then to Bílovice nad Svitavou (17 km, possible return by train or bus). Finally climbing a hill to Hády, where we want to oficially finish the 6th hike (23 km).
We look forward to seeing you.

5th mathematical hike - February 4th 2017 |

Dear Friends of Mathematics and Hikes,
You are cordially invited to the 5th mathematical hike. It will take place on February 4th. Start at 09:25 at the tram stop "Moravanská", at the crossing of roads Vídeňská and Moravanská.
19 km - go over the hill to Želešice, follow the valley of Bobrava to Radostice, then go north to Střelice - train station.
