RELATIVE SUNSPOT NUMBERS ON DISKETTE ------------------------------------------
The collection of sunspot numbers provided here contains five kinds of tables--
tables that give spot counts averaged over different time intervals.  Professor
M. Waldmeier, Director of the Swiss Federal Observatory in Zurich, Switzerland,
published these observations in 1961 as a book entitled THE SUNSPOT-ACTIVITY IN
THE YEARS 1610-1960 (Zurich Schulthess & Company AG).

      MAXMIN      dates since 1610 of sunspot cycle maxima and minima
      YEARLY      yearly mean numbers beginning in 1700
      YEARLY.PLT  all yearly means in form suitable for plotting
     MONTHLY      monthly means starting in January 1749
     MONTHLY.PLT  all monthly means in form suitable for plotting
    SMOOTHED      12-month running averages since July 1749
    SMOOTHED.PLT  smoothed averages in form suitable for plotting
       1980-      daily counts (1 table/year) from January 1980 to present
